Abstract
This study is focused on the concrete measures of the social ministry of the Wangshimni Central Church, a typical urban church, to transform itself into community serving church successfully. Despite its long history of 93 years, the Wangshimni Central Church has existed as a closed urban church thoroughly unrecognized by its local community. Therefore, it is an urgent issue to transform the relationship of the church with its community for Gods mission. This middle-class orientation has enforced members of the church to have a distorted understanding of Koinonia that has served as an excuse for the exclusive fellowship for its own members. This distorted idea of fellowship provided the church with bases to justify its use of human and financial resources exclusively for the external growth of the church. The dualistic misunderstanding of 'Spirituality' has led to separationist ideas. Thus, the church, though it has involved in the ministry for long time, has not engaged in the concrete everyday lives of the local community. The writer concludes with the contention that if churches in Korea participate in this revolutionary change, the Kingdom of God will be realized on earth here and now.
